Liberation on Land (L.O.L.)
Youth Immersion

PURPOSE
L.O.L. (Liberation on Land) is an immersive 3-day program for B.I.P.O.C. youth, ages 14-16 that harvests the power of land as a tool for personal and collective liberation. Together, we will engage in creative and healing arts, regenerative farming, whole foods cooking, mindfulness practices, and physical activities, both as skill-building exercises and as a means for emotional-spiritual growth. There will be abundant time in nature, observing, playing, making music, and listening to the languages of the Earth.
DESCRIPTION
Participants will receive mentorship in trusting their inner guidance, naming their needs, identifying their super powers, pushing their limits, self-acceptance, collaboration, interdependence, empathy and compassionate communication. The young people will also learn some of the revolutionary history of their ancestors’ struggles for liberation and how they can shape movements for justice in their own communities nowadays.
This program is for BIPOC youth (Black, indigenous, and other people of color) who are 14-16 years old. Local youth from the 518/Capital Region and regional youth living within 60 miles from Soul Fire Farm will be strongly prioritized.
L.O.L Youth Immersion Experience
Together we will:
- Learn how to grow and prepare food through hands-on farming and cooking.
- Explore the forest, plants and water and sleep outside in tents under the stars.
- Make music, move our bodies, and create art from nature.
- Investigate issues affecting our lives and communities, and learn strategies from past and present movements for liberation.
- Consider our roles in making positive change based on our unique experiences, passions and super powers to shape the future.
- Discover ways we can care for our spirits.
- Build relationships of trust, respect and joy.

PROGRAM DATES
- July 9 – 11, 2024
- This program will run from Tuesday at 12:00 pm through Thursday at 2:00 pm Eastern.
TIMELINE
- Application Launch: Friday, February 23
- Application Deadline: Rolling Admission until slots are full. Applications close June 15
- Notification: Notifications will be sent out at the end of April, May and June.
- Acceptance: Please confirm acceptance within 1 week of receiving notification
- Deposit Due: Monday, July 1
We are happy to offer funds for any youth who needs assistance with travel expenses to the immersion. Each participant can be reimbursed up to $100 by submitting a travel receipt to programs@soulfirefarm.org.
